Makerere University vice chancellor proffessor Nawangwe has lifted lid over allegations that there was money in the finance department that was gutted by fire last weekend s the university's iconic ivory tower building which is the heart of uganda's oldest unversity.
While appearing before reporters this morning, the man in the dug out was asked to clarify on the ongoing claims that have made several rounds on social media that a lot of money was burn't and perished in the university's finance department which was being housed in the right hand side if the building as this same after the university was under investigation over Billions of money that went missing.
Prof. Nawangwe clarified that the university doesn't collect the funds directly since 2019, the funds have been and shall always be paid directly to Uganda Revenue Authority from where it goes to consolidated fund and then government alocates the way its used by the university .
The university vice chancellor also assured the general student body and general public that it will resume studies regardless if this setback and candidates should continue preparations and the university staffs are ready for the resumption.
