"WE ARE BUILDING ROADS IN DR CONGO- MUSEVENI CONFIRMS

THE DAILY PARROT NEWS( Kampala): Today 9th, October 2020 Marks exactly 58 years since Ugnda got her independence and the Celebrations have taken place in State house Entebbe with president Musevi gracing the occasion by being the addressing the nation on the progree reached at since the NRA/M took the mantle to lead the country.

Mr Museveni took the chance to update the nation on several developments in different sectors that the government has keenly developed and those under the pipeline that are worthy celebrating as the pearl of Africa Marks its 58th independence Aninversary.

The ceremony which was live on UBC state Media and all other radio and television networks, President Yoweri Kaguta Musveni has revealed that the journey hasn’t been smooth but Uganda has come a long way. He (Museveni) was quoted confirming the allegation that the state constructed roads in neighbouring Dr Congo.

While addressing the nation on Uganda’s 58th independence anniversary attended by 30 VVIPs at state house Entebbe, Museveni said point 5 of the NRM 10-point programme is building an independent and self-sustaining economy and Uganda is still on the road.

On the current project of Uganda building 223 km of roads in Democratic Republic of Congo-DRC from Mpondwe to Beni, Butembo, Bunagana, up to Goma, Museveni said this is to improve trading with our regional partners and selling power to Congo.

"We’re building roads in DR Congo to improve trading with regional partners and selling power." Mr Museveni said.

The head of state says he always like to talk about the economy of Uganda because it is what forms the base and Uganda’s economy has transformed to a level where the country will be self-sufficient,achieve sustainable economic growth and job creation.

‘I no longer want to hear about imported and assembled buses. We are going to make them ourselves. Under Kiira Motor corporation project, 2 electric busses have been made,’  he added.

Today’s anniversary is under the theme; Celebrating Uganda’s steady progress towards economic take-off and self-sustaining economic growth.
